As part of this transformation, HR has played an interesting role. Initially a recruiting function, the HR strategy was to hire the best talent in the market. As the business has shifted from start-up to established Global organisation, with that has come a change in HR strategy. An emphasis is now being placed on more robust learning and developing programs, better performance management and KPIs and goal setting, employee engagement initiatives and more comprehensive HR tools which enable us to deliver a better experience for all staff. Developing and establishing this HR strategy requires a great Employee Relations and HR policy foundation across all our locations in EMEA and Internationally. This role will be responsible for developing this foundation, working closely with local HR Leaders and developing policies that that align to our unique and trailblazing business model and work locally. This person will also be a guru at handling complex employee matters.

The Job:

As an Employee Relations & Policy Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Groupon European Works Council and you will work closely with the HR leaders across all our EMEA and International locations to understand the challenges of local labour law. This understanding and ER framework will better enable us to to contribute to the development and implementation of Groupon HR strategies working closely with the wider HR team including Recruitment, Talent Development, Compensation and Benefits, Payroll and HR Systems.

This role reports to the Head of HR, EMEA.

What will you do on a daily basis?

Partner with key stakeholders including Business and HR leadership, Legal, and COEs to create policy and procedures that align Globally and work locally.

Understand European law, local labour laws across EMEA and International business and how global processes need to reflect local requirements.

Manage the Groupon Employee Works Council process and representatives including running the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and understanding at an EMEA level when we will consult with our EWC.

Develop materials for senior managers in Groupon to understand the EWC framework and how this affects communicating and consulting on changes that impact in EMEA.

Work closely with the HRBP team to provide a consistent approach in addressing employee relations across the company or as consistent as possible understanding where it needs to be different.

Develop training materials for non-local managers.

Lead and, if necessary, conduct employee investigations. Prepare reports of findings under consultation with legal.

Project manage at an EMEA level workforce related projects by partnering with legal and the local HRBPs.

Develop and implement training initiatives on policy, procedure, and employee relations.

Identify ways to reinforce core-values through implementation of policy and employee relation strategy.

Partner across all levels of the organization to drive adoption of policy procedure.

Partner with the Talent Development COE on performance review delivery practices.

Work with local HRBPs to identify themes in ER issues and determine solutions and reports on ER both in EMEA and Globally.

Work with facilities to establish emergency / workplace threat protocol and provides guidance and training.

Identify trends in the industry to continue to enhance policies and the employee relations offerings.

In conjunction with the legal department, stay up to date on labor law and updates policy and others within HR as appropriate.

What will make you successful in this role?

7 years of experience in multiple Human Resources disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, diversity, and performance management

Thorough understanding of Irish and UK employment law plus knowledge of legal/employment frameworks in other in other European locations, including working with a European Works Council.

In-depth experience as a Business Partner who actively engages with their client group to ensure HR is fully integrated with the business providing a consultative approach

In-depth Employee Relations experience with end to end case management.

Experience utilizing Workday as the HR system of record for HRIS

Experience in delivering training on employee relations issues
