As we continue to grow our brand within the Groupon family, we’re seeking a tenacious individual contributor, self-starting Marketing Manager, Organic Search Operations to join our search marketing team.
The Search Marketing team is responsible for growing Groupon traffic from external search engine and providing them better and more engaging experiences on the site in order to drive new customer acquisition and greater revenue for all of Groupon’s worldwide lines of business including Local Deals, Products, and Travel. We do this through automated SEO, SEM, and Landing Page Optimization technologies but also with development and execution of content and link generation strategies that reinforce the user experience and enhance the Groupon brand. The team is a key component to implementing Groupon’s “Pull” strategy that is already transforming Groupon from its origins as a daily deal company to an ever present source for customers to discover local merchants and service-providers for entertainment, adventure, travel and great deals on products.
In this position you will be part of the team that runs Search marketing content and operations. You will directly work closely with Groupon Editorial and GM’s of Groupon verticals to identify and prioritize top content, analyze the successes and scale these within the verticals. You will directly manage vendor relationships for additional content, organic link building opportunities. You will forecast the annual budget and adjust it throughout the year to incorporate changes due to external and internal influences. Ultimately, you will be responsible for ensuring that SEO executes optimally throughout the year and serves as a huge catalyst for Groupon’s aggressive annual growth plans. You will also drive LivingSocial integration with Groupon.
Manage the development and execution of organic marketing strategies for LivingSocial especially focussing on content strategy in order to protect Groupon and LivingSocial from being penalized by Google for duplicate content
Build scalable content marketing and link building processes for LS and Groupon aligned with Groupon brand and product focus, utilizing in house editorial resources, outside agencies, Groupon PR, social media and internal hires as needed
Business forecasting, reporting, budget. Regular updates on traffic, revenue and acquisition results to executive leaders and other internal stakeholders
Manage agency and vendor relationships, evaluating potential new partnerships wherever needed for additional content and organic link building opportunities
Contribute to Groupon overall product strategy, directing Local, Getaways and Goods channel teams to increase and improve data in their product catalogs, improve user experience and optimally meet requirements for search engine’s
Proficiency in quantitative analysis and communicating the results of that analysis
Hands-on data proficient and SQL
Aggregating, organizing, and making sense of large amounts of data, reporting the goals and reconciliation to targets
Demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve open ended projects with in-house resources, outsourced agencies, or working with small scrappy teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience reporting business to senior management
Background in SEO at large consumer-facing website. Demonstrated ability to a/b test and learn what drives growth
Basic HTML and design experience
Experience working with content management systems and SEO link building
