What does the Media Marketing engineering team do?
Well, in short we build Groupon’s advertising platforms. We build tools, UIs and APIs to empower our partners to advertise and drive interest in all things Groupon.
With a multi-datacentre, micro-services architecture and by employing a range of technologies from Java 8 and Storm to Python and Hadoop we advertise, track usage, attribution and conversion.
What will you do?
Design, build and deploy Java and Node services on a global scale.
Drive development excellence personally, through the team around you and across Groupon.
Operate continuous delivery processes and real-time monitoring systems to let you see the results of your work as soon as you are done.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to explore and plan opportunities before architecting and developing.
What kind of person are you and what experience do you need?
You’ve got a BS, MS or Ph.D in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
You’re an old hand at professional software development with 8 years or more experience including expert level Java and at least one more language.
You know how to build highly scalable distributed web systems with excellent knowledge of RESTful WebServices, Distributed Systems, API Design and databases.
You’re familiar with data pipelines, Lambda architectures and handling large volumes of data and traffic. If don’t know Hadoop, Storm, Redis and Kafka then you can’t wait to learn!
You're used to working with business stakeholders to understand and deliver the end business value as well as the technical excellence to deliver robust and reliable software. You have a broad range of expertise and understand how to apply it to the opportunity in front of you.
You're comfortable with a Linux command line and services.
