Mellanox Technologies is looking for a Field Application Engineer (FAE) to handle technical responsibilities for accounts located in the Western US region. This individual will support OEM customers who use Mellanox hardware and software products in their systems and solutions.

The preferred candidate should have strong technical background and show good overall understanding of system level issues. The candidate should also be familiar with hi-speed networking technologies and protocols (particularly 10/25/40/100 Gbit Ethernet and InfiniBand), including software networking stacks. Familiarity with storage protocols and solutions is a plus.

Depending on years of experience, we may be willing to train on some of the above elements.


Responsibilities include technical management of accounts; participating in the project life cycle including definition, design, software porting, reviews, bring-up and ongoing support; close collaboration with Mellanox engineering on issue resolution; preparation and delivery of technical training/presentations; participation in pre-sales activities.

BSEE/BSCS or higher degree from an accredited university or college
Knowledge of networking protocols, including layers 2, 3 and 4
Knowledge of Linux/Unix (Administration level)
Independent. Self motivated. Dedicated.
Excellent communication skills
Up to 20% travel required (Domestic and possible International)
Relocation may be considered
Prior experience with hardware or software development or with highly technical customer support – preferred
Knowledge in InfiniBand and/or 10/25/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet networking specs; hardware design, particularly in the area of high-speed communication; storage protocols (block, file, FC); C, C++ and scripting languages (BASH, Perl, Python) – preferred
Understanding of Linux/Windows/VMware/FreeeBSD internals – preferred
