Our Finance Operations team is a lean high performing unit that sits at the core of Finance and Business Operations and regularly interacts with Senior Leaders to drive performance.

We’re on the look-out for an Accounting Team Leader who will be responsible for running day-to-day financial accounting and compliance duties, while managing and developing a team.

This position is pivotal where you will work closely with internal stakeholders and account management teams to ensure we deliver on our merchant payment and finance objectives.

The successful candidate will become an integral player in Groupon’s Finance Operations team, with the role offering numerous opportunities to build process and rigor necessary for accounting, tax, reporting and compliance. The role requires someone with great accounting knowledge combined with and exceptional people management skills.

Day to Day Responsibilities

Run the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes (journal entries, reconciliations, etc.)
Ensure accurate routine and ad hoc reporting to parent and controlling entities that comply with IFRS, US GAAP and group policies
Assist with external and internal audits and preparation of statutory accounts
Ensure tax and other compliance obligations are met (GST, Income Tax, FBT, workers comp, payroll tax, etc.)
Monitor, enforce and improve internal controls and financial processes and policies
Train, coach and develop direct report staff including identifying training requirements and performance review process
General support to offshore accounting team and perform APAC tasks
Perform ad hoc project initiatives
The ideal candidate

Qualified CA/CPA with 3-5 years of experience
Previous accounting experience from, Big 4, e-commerce, start-ups, advertising, marketing, media industry (highly desirable)
Experience influencing key stakeholders and be comfortable in challenging the status quo
Natural leadership skills and most importantly the ability to lead by example
Experience in working in a similar business model – large volumes of transactions and multiple entities
Exceptional organisational ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent attention to detail with demonstrated problem-solving skills
Resilient and the ability to work under pressure, independently and to tight deadlines
An outgoing personality and a great sense of humour!
