The Category Manager will take full category ownership and is responsible for the P&L management in order to drive the top and bottom line. We would expect the Category Manager to have proven management skills, effective communication, and the ability to prioritize in order to directly manage a team of 7 buyers as well as internal cross-functional teams. The Category Manager needs to be hands on and able to jump on a vendor call while building and maintaining strategy in order to hit weekly, monthly and quarterly goals.

Additional Responsibilities:

Possess and develop a strong understanding of the product category, market, and growth opportunities in order to implement strategic and targeted action plans to achieve goals
Have a complete understanding of manufacturer and brand needs in order to create an unparalleled shopping experience for our end consumers
Monitor sales reports and conduct financial analysis in order to identify business opportunities and identify and close gaps in order to meet and exceed key performance indicators
Present short term and long term strategic category business plans and status reports to upper management
Actively manage and develop a team of buyers

Bachelor’s degree required
7+ years of merchandising experience
Experience as a Sr. Buyer / Category Manager at a major retailer with evidence of building a strong team and managing a P&L successfully
Housewares experience preferred
Demonstrated leadership and management experience
Proven ability of taking ownership and driving results
Well versed in the Home category preferred
Thorough knowledge in e-commerce
Ability to think strategically with attention to detail
Strong merchandising, product, analytical, and organization skills
Admirable communication skills in all areas: verbal, written, telepathic
