Remote Database Engineer

Responsibilities include:

Design architecture for next-generation Database-as-a-Service platform
Drive improvements to high availability features
Automate DBA tasks and enable self service functionality for internal customers
Optimize performance of platform and individual database instances
Develop monitoring to identify database integrity and proactively predict issues
Review development and deployment processes and identify areas of improvement
Work with development teams to troubleshoot and optimize queries and performance bottlenecks
A successful candidate for this position would typically have:

MySQL and/or PostgreSQL DBA experience in a 24×7 production environment
6 – 8 years of database management and engineering experience
Demonstrated experience in architecting a large-scale production database plaform
Experience with schema design and data normalization
Strong full stack systems experience in a Linux/LVM/XFS or FreeBSD/ZFS environment
Package building and upgrades in a production environment ( MySQL / PostgreSQL 9.x )
Experience with git
Mastery of one or more of: SQL, Python, Perl, Bash, Ruby or other scripting language
Understanding of virtualization and clustered environments
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

MySQL Database Administration experience
PostgreSQL Database Administration experience
Redis Administration
Knowledge and use of Ansible
