GoPro is seeking a highly skilled and experienced candidate to take on the responsibilities of a Senior Thermal Engineer. The position will be responsible for the thermal architecture, design, analysis, and validation of thermal technologies within camera and ariel products. The role utilizes and champions a design process based on estimating, simulating, and testing the thermal performance of new products and architectures. The ideal candidate will have a strong fundamental background in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and the implementation of thermal solutions in consumer electronics.
What You Will Do
Architect, design, and validate experimentally the thermal design of cameras and ariel products
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop optimal product architectures meeting all product requirements
Optimize thermal solutions through the use of CFD simulation while minimzing product cost
Specify and develop thermal requirements
Drive the thermal architecture while completeing trade-off studies considering all aspects of the product
Communicate power, thermal, and mechanical requirements to the team
Design, manage, and execute thermal test plan to validate the thermal design
Develop thermal algorithms to be integrated into the product firmware for thermal management
Design, develop, and validate new thermal capabilities to be incorporated in future products
Skill We’re Stoked About
BSME required, MS Preferred
10 years of experience with detailed thermal analysis and design; at least 5 within the consumer electronics industry
Deep knowledge in fluid dynamics and heat transfer theory and highly skilled in CFD analysis with the ability to model complex systems efficiently
OEM and factory DOE experience
Extensive familiarity with the specification and application of passive and active thermal management hardware, including heat sinks, spreaders, TIMs, fans, and heat pipes
Experience negotiating thermal and related mechanical and electrical product requirements
Skilled in performing thermal feasibility studies; developing and contributing to conceptual designs that meet system requirements
Skilled in preparing and reviewing test plans, executing tests as well as supervise testing
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Good interpersonal communication, problem solving, and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communicating skills
