Groupon Goods is looking for experienced, professional, and target driven Head of buying to help bring continued growth to this fast growing retail channel. The head of buying will report directly to the EMEA Senior Commercial Director and will be responsible for Increasing management's effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counselling, and disciplining managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Be involved in annual forecasting and budgets & fully financial accountable for delivering both strategic and commercial objectives for the region.
Continually assess product range with key competitors to compare price, quality and value.
Take appropriate action in-season with repeat orders, cancellations and rescheduling of orders to maximise sales and profitability within the company trading ethos.
Awareness of the region as well as International best sellers and core line prices.
The management & leadership of all the categories within Region.
Manage and influence the buying team, being heavily involved in the structure and succession planning, proactively monitoring of performance and progression.
Engaging with the Merchandising team to ensure prompt delivery of merchandise and correct phasing of intake to meet sales.
Achieve stock turn targets to maximise overall contribution.
Review weekly achieved sales, margin, stock & intake versus forecast. Propose & agree, with the senior director and VP revisions to forecast.
Driving the strategic delivery of the effective product assortment that meets or exceeds revenue targets and growth including the involvement of leading & developing the Own-brand product ranges through the Category management team.
Excellent negotiating and exceptional supplier management relationships to ensure best prices and highest quality.
Create, execute, and drive a strategy that's tailored to the demand of the market (what we need on the platform, when we need it, how we'll source it, and how we'll measure against it)
Own, acquire, and manage large vendor relationships, as well as senior business development with target brands.
Increase converted search to purchase percentages within the region.
Deliver seasonal promotions and campaigns.
Work together with Goods leadership and marketing to ensure the category is properly exposed in relevant channels (e.g., comparison shopping, Facebook ads).
The successful candidate will:
An impressive track record, having held full accountability for strategically reviewing (data intensive) performance matrix and rigorously driving process and performance improvements throughout an extensive and diverse supplier base
The ability to think laterally and innovate, backed by the negotiation skills to influence brands and vendors as well internal stakeholders to introduce lean principles and maximise profits with better customer experience
Extensive working experience in a senior commercial role or as a General Manager within online retailers.
Come from at least a head of buying, general manager or head of trading back ground.
Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Be extremely capable working with excel; creating and working with formulas
Be a strong and confident presenter
Have a following, people want to be led by you
Fluent in English and Italian
Be target driven, thrive under high pressured environments and possess and 'can do' attitude
Demonstrate a previous track record of delivering growth through strategy
Be a strong executer of tasks and equally strong at project management
