GoPro is seeking a top tier candidate for the Marketing Director, APAC position based in Shanghai. This position will oversee the team responsible for planning, coordinating and managing APAC programs and initiatives for GoPro. The Marketing Director, APAC will interface closely with the Marketing leadership team at HQ to develop high-level, cohesive strategic plans that align GoPro products, technology, and platforms with our priority markets in APAC. This position will deliver key brand messages, maximize deliverables through cross-departmental collaboration, and drive brand awareness of the GoPro ecosystem.

This role requires management and oversight of a team of marketing managers based in Shanghai, Tokyo & Melbourne and will have a lot of cross-functional partnership with regional channel marketing and sales teams. Additional responsibilities include: managing the overall team budget and forecasting future needs as well as creating business plans and objectives that drive business forward in the region.

What You Will Do

Implement and adapt global marketing initiatives (below the line and above the line) into APAC region
Define (plan, coordinate and execute) national/regional sports marketing initiatives across all relevant GoPro verticals in APAC
Work mutually with the media relations team and local agencies to build specific PR strategy for priority markets in APAC using local insight
Support the global social media team in generating relevant content from the regions through owned and community generated content and ensure local/regional relevance of GoPro’s social handles in APAC
Lead the development and execution of marketing tactics such as product launches and social media campaigns
Manage all production initiatives, distribution and content related topics for GoPro in the APAC region for both internal production needs and GoPro content strategy.
Collaborate with the internal marketing departments on the development and delivery of marketing assets relevant to the region
Build country level Go-To-Market strategies for key markets in APAC collaborating with global marketing departments as well as with regional marketing-, channel/ retail marketing- and sales- team
Develop all major retail marketing programs including strategy, branding, funding and executable elements in APAC, keeping in-line with overall global-wide scope.
Drive channel growth by aligning objectives and strategies with sales team, distributors and retailers.
Manage and lead the collaboration with APAC’s distributors from a marketing perspective through regional teams
Monitor and control brand/CI in the local markets
Work hand in hand with the APAC sales director to accomplish KPIs for the region

Skills We're Stoked About

BS required, MBA is a plus
12+ years of experience in globally recognized in-line brands in the Lifestyle, (Action) Sports or CE industry
Extensive work experience in the APAC region, specifically China, Japan and Korea
Must speak English fluently, as well as Mandarin and/or Cantonese
Must be strategic, creative, and be able to clearly communicate how plans will deliver on our overall marketing goals
Proven track record of developing and managing teams in a complex organizational structure
Entrepreneurial spirit and a self-starter mentality
Capable of managing and completing multiple projects and priorities at the same time within a rapidly changing environment
Strong sense of accountability for projects and goals
Strong GoPro cultural understanding and actively participates in key GoPro vertical activities
Ability to solve complex problems, rather than highlight them
Knowledge and experience in contract negotiations
Ability to work in cross-functional teams
Extensive travel – approx. 40%
