Groupon is seeking a tenacious, self-starting, Promotional Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team. This position is analytically focused and data intensive, and will be responsible for helping optimize Groupon’s promotional strategy and spend. The Promotional Marketing Manager will become the promotional spend expert within Marketing, achieving her/his objectives through complex financial modeling, big data analysis, and close collaboration with leadership across the global Marketing, Operations and Finance teams.


Build standardized experimentation and valuation frameworks to measure the cost and benefit of each promotional tactic (i.e. order discounts, item level sales)
Design and execute experiments and analyses to evaluate the incrementality of promotional levers on financial metrics (revenue, profit, etc.), customer behavior (subscriptions, visitor frequency, basket size, purchase mix by product category, etc.), and customer lifetime value
Perform ad-hoc, deep dive analyses, helping identify areas of inefficient spend and highlighting the winning strategies on which Groupon should double-down
Partner with Revenue Management and Central Merchandising to allocate promotional spend across levers, develop the merchandising calendar, and forecast the impact of open and closed promotions
Develop operational and management reporting, and represent the performance of promotional spend and optimization efforts at weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews and other executive forums

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, Finance, or another quantitative field
MBA or advanced degree in Finance, Applied Math, Statistics, and/or Econometrics preferred
5+ years of relevant work experience with a heavy emphasis on data analysis
Builder mentality – identifies problems quickly and is eager to build solutions from scratch, not just improve on others’ work
Strong communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to interpret and summarize data to help achieve strategic and operational goals
Proven ability to extract meaningful and actionable insight from large, disparate data sets
Comfortable with a fast-paced, always-on, startup environment
Must have great analytical and prioritization skills, strong business judgment, and be an excellent project manager
Advanced SQL and Excel skills, and experience with Tableau and/or another data visualization tool preferred
