Kaiam is looking for an RF design engineer preferably with experience in the fiber optic transceiver industry. The role requires intimate knowledge of RF communication and transmission line concepts. An ideal candidate would also have at least a working knowledge of fiber optic transceivers. The engineer would be required to independently work on Design of Experiments to characterize and evaluate optical subassemblies (OSA) and sub-components such as lasers, TIAs and laser drivers as well as guide designs of sub-mounts and OSA-PCB interfacing.
Knowledge of modeling tools such as ADS, HFSS and Ansys Electronics Desktop would be essential. The role requires a high degree of comfort in designing both on ceramics and PCB materials. Some instrumentation and automation experience would be preferred.
As a member of Kaiam’s R&D team, you would be a key contributor to decisions on existing performance/cost improvement projects on fiber optic products as well as in guiding new designs.
BS and 3 years or MS with 1-2 years and/or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or related field
Familiarity with all aspects of optical subassembly design and testing
Deep understanding of opto-electronic metrics such as BER, dispersion penalty, and eye margin
Familiarity with software design, modeling, and layout tools such as HFSS, ADS, Spice, or PADS
