Job Description / Skills Required

We are the Users Team. We are responsible for user authentication and account life cycle management systems, including the security, storage, and access of related data.

We are looking for a software developer to join our very collaborative team (we pair a lot) to help us build and maintain our services and infrastructure.

A list of the kind of stuff you could be doing:
    Solving problems inherent in supporting users in a global company
    Building new services and syncing data to them from still-living-but-nearly-dead legacy systems
    Identifying and preventing fraud
    Tuning said services to meet high-performance SLAs (e.g. a TP99 of 20 ms for 1 million RPM)
    Designing single sign-on across all Groupon sites
    Ensuring geo-redundancy of services across multiple data centers
    Continual improvement of our team's tooling
    Designing RESTful services
    Helping solve all the problems the come from dealing with the above in a very large ecosystem

A list of the kind of experience we really need:
    Strong understanding of software development and object-oriented design principles
    Comfortable with TDD best practices
    BS in Computer Science or similar is a good thing
    Proficiency with:
        Ruby with Sinatra or Rails
        MySQL or similar relational database
        *NIX systems

A list of the  kind of experience that we need a little less than the experience listed above:
    Java
    Web service development
    Familiarity with SOA
    Experience with messaging systems
