We are seeking a Category Manager to fuel the growth of our goods business. This manager will take full category ownership and is responsible for the P&L management in order to drive the top and bottom line. We would expect the Category Manager to have proven management skills, effective communication, and the ability to prioritize in order to directly manage a team of buyers as well as internal cross-functional teams. The Category Manager needs to be hands on and able to jump on a vendor call while building and maintaining strategy in order to hit weekly, monthly and quarterly goals.

Core Responsibilities:

Possess and develop a strong understanding of the product category, market, and growth opportunities in order to develop a vision and then implement strategic and targeted action plans to achieve goals
Research product landscape to keep current with industry trends and pricing dynamics in the consumer-product goods space
Present short term and long term strategic category business plans and status reports to upper management
Monitor sales reports and conduct financial analysis in order to identify business opportunities and identify and close gaps in order to meet and exceed key performance indicators
Actively manage, mentor, and develop a team of buyers
Deliver results while dealing with lots of ambiguity and change
Ability to influence and work well with other departments
Possible travel (up to 20%) to trade shows & meetings

Requirements:

Experience as a Category Manager/ Buying Manager at a major retailer with evidence of building a strong team and managing a P&L successfully
You have a following – others want to be led by you
Experience building long-term relationships with vendors at the director level and higher
Direct responsibility for P&L of multi million pound categories
Experience in project management across functional teams
Proof of business-polished written and verbal communication
Meticulous attention to detail with a proven track record of delivering results while juggling multiple projects
Experience displaying the ability to manage a category at both macro and micro level and an understating of the impact it has on the organization as a whole.
Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s/MBA degree
