GoPro is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the Senior Mechanical Engineer role. This Senior Mechanical Engineer strives to develop innovative mechanical design solutions for the camera, and sometimes its related accessories. Is driven to use state­of­the­art CAD and analysis tools to create mechanical designs, primarily consisting of injection­molded plastic, stamped sheet­metal, die­cast components, and printed circuit board assemblies for high­volume mass production. Closely collaborating with internal and/or external cross functional teams, throughout the product development cycle, while generating all necessary documentation and test plans to ensure that product/s meet specification. Determined in the face of challenge to ensure product features achieve reliability, performance, and cost specifications on schedule. Loves learning, and seeks to conduct feasibility studies and coordinate validation testing on new and modified designs. Desires to enhance existing methodology and processes to ensure continuous improvement.

What You Will Do

Contribute to mechanical architecture investigations for new cameras
Detailed part design, tolerance analysis, documentation, and functional validation of mechanical components and assemblies
Collaborate with all cross-functional teams such as EE, ID, RF, Audio, Optics, etc.
Be the ME interface with our suppliers/partners, manufacturing and operations teams, quality, tooling, and other development groups to ensure the successful development and launch
Drive mechanical tooling and production part qualification (i.e. first­article inspections, manufacturing process capabilities (Cp/Cpk), measurement gage repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R), material certifications, etc.)
Utilize best­in­class tools to develop innovative mechanical solutions to highly complex problems Audit mechanical suppliers/external partners and advise improvement plans where needed
Protect company intellectual property by submitting patent applications

Skills We’re Stoked About

B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. (M.S. degree a plus)
Experience in the development of consumer electronics products, preferably in handheld, mobile, and ideally wireless devices
7+ years of relevant experience in mechanical and/or product design development
Advanced knowledge and experience using solid modeling and assembly creation, NX experience a plus
Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and performing statistical tolerance analysis
Understanding sealed (IPXX) and/or rugged/robust product design is a strong plus
Experience with Asia manufacturing partners and suppliers. Travel to support manufacturing
