Senior Sales Consultant -Field Based – New Business – Manchester

Groupon UK is looking for an experienced Sales Consultant to join the Field Sales Team in Manchester. Reporting into the Regional Director (RD), you will be responsible for proactively sourcing and developing new business opportunities with SMEs and building long term relationships with merchants. Through a consultative sales approach you will present business solutions to meet the merchants, customers and Groupon’s expectations and will become a vital part of the merchants marketing and business plans. In this role you will go beyond the traditional Groupon offering to be able to understand and articulate the benefits of a multi-channel marketing approach to generating new customers.

It is essential that you can sell the benefits of Groupon as a powerful marketing tool and in addition be able to sell the range of marketing channels we employ. Including: email marketing and personalisation, search engine management, Facebook advertising, behaviour triggered push notifications, affiliate marketing and promotional codes.

What the role entails:

•Proactively source, pitch and close deals (either via phone or face-to-face) that feature on Groupon, continually expanding the range of offers for our subscribers

•Present Groupon as the unique opportunity for businesses to acquire new customers

•Construct and negotiate offers which meet expectations of Groupon, merchants and the customer

•Achieve and exceed on weekly and monthly KPIs

•Educate merchants on how Groupon works and how they can maximise the opportunity post feature

•Demonstrate a thorough understanding of your merchants business and adopts a consultative sales approach

•Hand hold merchants through the full process i.e. until Groupon voucher redeemed

•Consistently multi-task between new business acquisition and account management

•Maintains regular contact with merchants and build long term relationships

•Take ownership of the full sales process

•Strong knowledge of all aspects of the Groupon business model and the daily deal market

•Work with internal support functions to ensure that every deal that goes live on the platform meets quality standards

•Utilises internal tools to optimise performance

•Involve line management to assist with closing deals where necessary

•Good understanding of seasonality and when is the best time to feature merchants

•Demonstrates understanding of market trends and social media hot topics. You should also be comfortable with adapting your approach to add in new channels that are being tested regularly, e.g. SMS, Spotify, traditional media etc.

What we need from you:

•Proven track record of B2B sales and account management, preferably in any of the following

industries: media, advertising, recruitment, advertising and e-commerce

•Experience in canvassing and cold-calling into various types of local businesses, with evidence of consistent and current success

•A full valid UK driving license

•Excellent communication skills, must have a consultative sales approach and be a strong persuader and influencer

•Strong relationship builder, has a positive attitude and is a team player

•Highly driven, is self-motivated, target orientated, resilient and tenacious

•Is customer focused, enjoys working autonomously, hits the ground running and demonstrates a willingness to learn

•Strong analytical skills, makes well-judged decisions, good numeracy, pays strong attention to detail, is a strong problem solver, demonstrates good commercial awareness and thinks outside the box to generate new ideas

•Has a flexible approach, thrives under pressure and enjoys working in a fast paced environment

•Highly organised and plans and prioritises work effectively

•Undergraduate degree desirable
