Groupon is looking for a Payments Data Analyst to help monitor and optimize the payment systems at Groupon.
Groupon processes over six billion dollars in payments each year. We work with over 30 different payment providers supporting nearly 100 payment methods in dozens of different countries. We are PCI level one compliant and run our own internal payments gateway. Our large-scale, web and mobile e-commerce applications run non-stop around the globe.
We work in small, independent and collaborative teams to architect massively scalable and reliable systems. Our focus is on getting high-quality code into production, our processes are fast and light with short cycles and automated testing and deployment. As part of our global technology team, you’ll build pioneering local commerce applications used by hundreds of millions of people.
We work extensively with Open Source technologies. Many of our team are active developers on open source projects and, we are working to release more of our technology into the open source world.
The kind of stuff you’ll be doing
Driving the creation of high-quality metrics, monitoring, alerting and analysis
Responsible for day-to-day monitoring particularly around engineering changes and analysis of any issues that arise
Creation and monitoring of A / B tests and experiments to explore alternative strategies to improve conversion and authorization
Ad hoc investigations into issues and opportunities
Regular reports on payments health
The kind of experience we expect
BS, MS, or Ph.D. in a subject involving data analysis
At least 3 years experience as a data analyst with at least two years in Payments or Risk analysis
Strong familiarity with a scripting language such as Ruby, Python
Strong familiarity with SQL query writing
Proficiency with *NIX development environments
Understanding of how internet and Web technologies work
