The Local Intelligence team at Groupon is looking for economists and data scientists with at least a PhD and research interests in Behavioral Economics and/or Experimental Economics. The ideal candidate will have expertise in programming and querying languages, and experience/willingness to learn Hadoop, Hive, and Spark. You will collaborate with a team of brilliant data scientists, economists, engineers and product managers and will apply your expertise in these areas:
Designing, executing and measuring the results of large scale experiments
Interpreting and communicating insights and findings to product, service, and business managers
Application of economic and econometric principles to improve Groupon’s marketplace
Going into uncharted territory with bold new ideas, and going the last mile on execution
PhD degree in economics or econometrics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrable ability to deliver compelling fact-based presentations
Experience with R or Python
Experience with SQL is a plus
Experience with big data technologies like Spark and Hive is a plus
