Director Procurement

Job Description / Skills Required

The Director, Procurement is responsible for developing a strategic approach to the corporate, indirect procurement and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) management processes at Groupon globally. This position will lead and develop a Strategic Sourcing Team of eight professionals in our Chicago headquarters. This team has tactical responsibility for the development and implementation of policies, procedures and systems that support the company’s acquisition and management of goods and services. This position reports directly to the Chief Procurement Officer/VP Finance.

Responsibilities

Build a global procurement organization focused on managing costs, standardizing processes and servicing internal customers.
Analyze business plans and supply requirements to determine optimal sourcing strategies across geographies and commodities.
Lead negotiations on commodity/service purchase agreements on a global basis for multi-million dollar spend deals.
Determine and recommend alternate supply strategies to create cost savings and/or supply support solutions.
Lead cross-functional teams on supply chain initiatives.
Prepare and present strategic sourcing strategies to senior management. Manage strategic supplier partnerships.
Oversee day-to-day purchasing activities, including working with other departments to standardize P2P processes.
Utilize Coupa software to create and ensure compliance with key metrics for internal and supplier performance.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field required. MBA preferred.
Minimum of 6-8 years' experience in the sourcing and product development of a broad range of commodities and services on a global basis.
Integrity, honesty and the drive to do what's best for the business.
Experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
3-5 years' experience managing staff in a procurement organization.
Detailed background in Indirect Procurement a plus.
Strong command of Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Extensive knowledge of global sourcing trends and best practices.
Superior problem solving and analytical skills (both quantitative and qualitative).
Strong written and oral communication skills.
