GoPro is seeking a top tier candidate to take on the responsibilities of a Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer. This position will be responsible for the definition, design, and implementation of RF technologies. Working closely with silicon partners and hardware team, they will specify and verify cameras and camera accessories. In addition, the position will architect and design low cost RF solutions for portable cameras and camera accessories. The ideal candidate should have an in depth understanding of WiFi RF modem, GPS and antenna design.
What You Will Do
Engineer low cost WiFi RF, GPS solutions for portable cameras, camera accessories and other Wireless products.
DFM review with the cross functioning team such as mechanical, electrical hardware, firmware/software, and product ID team, to ensure WiFi RF and GPS performance.
DFM review with antenna vendor, ensure design for manufacturability in high volume production.
Develop documentation and processes to insure high product quality.
Develop hardware WiFi/GPS RF test plan, review WiFi/GPS RF performance test data and document into formal report.
Support manufacturing, bring up assembly and debug prototypes, work closely with the development partners, and lead technical assignments of our design partners or vendors.
Continue improving product quality and assess new WiFi/GPS RF chipset solutions.
Perform failure analysis during development phase, troubleshoot field return issues.
Schematic capture and layout design experience.
Skills We’re Stoked About
Bachelor Science or degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience in WiFi RF hardware development.
Experience with GPS/GLONASS/GNSS development.
Proven successful track record in Bluetooth/WiFi HW design development.
Understanding of RF front-end, transceiver and system architecture, components, and specifications.
Experience in Antenna design for consumer portable products, antenna tuning, and RF performance validation with RF equipment such as VNA, spectrum analyzer, power meter, etc. Understand Antenna properties.
Experience with different wireless communication systems such as 802.11, Bluetooth, GPS including corresponding system level specification.
Experience with regulatory requirements and process for wireless consumer devices, such as FCC, TIA/EIA, CTIA, ETSI, etc.
Experience in RF Lab build up, calibration, and supporting precertification testing.
Familiar with the design process from concept through board development and system integration.
Hands on experience with bring up and board/system troubleshooting.
Understanding of EMC/EMI testing for regulatory compliance and certification.
Proven ability to work independently with little direction, as well as able to multi-task and direct Junior engineers.
Ability to work cross-functionally along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
