GoPro is seeking a top tier candidate to take on the responsibilities of a Principal Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer. This position will be responsible for the definition, design, and implementation of RF technologies. Working closely with silicon partners and hardware team, they will specify and verify cameras and camera accessories. In addition, the position will architect and design low cost RF solutions for portable cameras and camera accessories. The ideal candidate should have an in depth understanding of WiFi, BT, GPS and/or other wireless technologies.

What You Will Do

Architect and design low cost WiFi, BT and GPS solutions for portable cameras, camera accessories and other wireless products.
Create schematics, drive layout placement of RF circuitry, and work closely with PCB layout team to create solid RF designs.
Utilize simulation tools to assist with design implementation.
Take an active, leading role in design reviews with cross functional teams such as mechanical, electrical hardware, firmware, software, and product ID team, to ensure WiFi RF and GPS performance is met.
Develop detailed documentation, such as wireless test plans, and drive existing, as well as new processes, to insure high quality products.
Execute rigorous and methodic design testing and optimization.
Support EMI and RF desense mitigation and testing as well as other regulatory testing.
Support manufacturing, bring-up and debug prototypes; work closely with the development partners, and lead technical assignments of our design partners or vendors.
Review design data collected during in-house testing as well as factory build data.
Perform failure analysis during development phase, troubleshoot field return issues.
Continue improving product quality and assess new wireless technology chipset solutions.

Skills We're Stoked About

Bachelor Science or degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
At least 10-15 years of experience in RF hardware development.
Experience using different wireless communication systems such as LTE, 802.11, BT and GPS.
Understanding of RF front-end, transceiver and system architecture, components, and specifications.
Strong experience using simulation tools like ADS, Genesys and/or CST MWS for circuit and 3D EM simulations.
Familiar with schematic creation and PCB design tools.
Experience in antenna design for consumer portable products, antenna tuning, and RF performance validation with RF equipment such as VNA, spectrum analyzer, power meter, etc.
Proven ability in analyzing root cause, complex design debugging, and problem solving with engineering test equipment. Knowledge of successful desense mitigation techniques
Experience with regulatory requirements and process for wireless consumer devices, such as FCC, TIA/EIA, CTIA, ETSI, etc.
Experience with board bring-up, calibration, and supporting pre-certification testing.
Demonstrated successful design, development and production of low cost, space constrained, consumer electronics.
Familiar with the design process from concept through board development and system integration.
Understanding of EMC/EMI testing for regulatory compliance and certification.
Proven ability to work independently with little direction, as well as able to multi-task and direct junior engineers.
Ability to work cross-functionally along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
