Temporary Accounting Manager – Maternity leave replacement

This is a leadership role overseeing accounting activities of the Italian operations. The role will oversee accounting operations, financial processes, internal controls, tax compliance and financial reporting (both Local GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP reporting) of the two Italian legal entities. The role will report to the EMEA Financial Controller and will be part of the EMEA accounting team. The role is based in Milan and is for a fixed time period as is a Maternity replacement.

Core Responsibilities

• Coordination and leadership of local accounting team
• Co-ordination of the monthly, quarterly and annual close and reporting (US GAAP) process
• Point contact of internal and external audit activities
• Ensure that the local internal control environment is effectively maintained and ensure that all SOX controls are complied with.
• Preparation of statutory financials statements (IFRS)
• Close collaboration with corporate and international accounting, tax, treasury, systems teams and other relevant stakeholders (i.e. auditors and tax consultants)
• Direction of the execution of the tax compliance activities (VAT, income taxes, monthly and annual payments and declarations)
• Review of balance sheet reconciliation on a monthly basis
• Review of monthly financial reporting fluctuations and analytics
• Review of quarterly Group reporting packages

Key Competencies

• Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP, statutory filings(including VAT) and statutory audit requirements
• Strong understanding of corporate internal processes and controls
• Proven ability to apply problem analysis and problem solving skills in day-to-day activities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (NetSuite being a plus)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with fluency both in English and Italian being mandatory
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy
• Capability to act proactively and results-driven, ability to set and rapidly shift priorities and meet challenging deadlines

Education and Experience
• University degree in Business Administration /Accounting or ACCA, CPA degree or equivalent
• 8+ years of experience in accounting, preferably gained within an international company
