The primary function of this role will be to work closely with global Multimedia and EMEA Communications to support them with EMEA internal video broadcasting and excellent customer-facing video material.

The Job:

The Multimedia Technician – Video Specialist will serve as the resident expert for designated multimedia and video communications for Groupon UK and its network in EMEA. The role will spearhead the strategic priority of reaching a vast virtual audience by effectively utilizing online video and broadcast media for internal purposes.

The Video Specialist is a key role that will bridge the gap between the technical and the creative divide of video communications across EMEA, collaborating throughout projects with international team members from IT, Global Multimedia and Communications. The role will mainly take lead from the US based Manager of Multimedia Technologies.

Working as an in-house producer, the Video Specialist will also create new short-form video content for the organization that can be distributed electronically to a mass audience, as well as priority audiences identified by the management team. The role will work with the Director of Communications to identify and cultivate media partners (both locally and nationally) and provide said partners with compelling content for collaborations that will appeal to a mass audience.

The Video Specialist will demonstrate an ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, adhere to aggressive production schedules and budgets, actively participate in creative brainstorms, and display a proactive approach to project management. The Video Specialist will be the main video and multimedia contact for internal stakeholders, consulting and advising across the EMEA region.

Broadcast/Multimedia Duties:

Broadcast UK-based Live Events

This role will manage our London streaming studio. We will use this hub to broadcast live events across the region and ensure high standards of quality. Also, organise and manage technical aspects of quarterly UK All-Hands and ad-hoc All-Hands events for visiting members of the S-Team.

Coordinate EMEA All-hands Events

When All-Hands or other high profile events take place in other EMEA countries, the Video Specialist will provide technical and logistic support to the relevant teams and produce the final broadcast.

Hosting of internal videos

Work closely with the Skynet team on hosting internal video and manage the UK content on Kaltura, the video asset bank.

Best Practice

Liaise with the US to roll out broadcast best practice across the region, ensuring consistent quality for all our internal broadcasts. Working with the Global Multimedia team, provide support when needed for conference room Multimedia systems in the region.

Production Duties:

Sales aids (Merchant case studies and success stories)

Actively pursue new leads for case study videos.

Film 2x monthly case studies to support Merchant Marketing strategy.

Maintain pipeline, and fix shoot leads 30 days in advance.

Focus on gaining spread across sectors and regions, so our merchant pull strength is balanced.

Arrange shoots for IE and Scottish video.

PR and Media Liaising

Work closely with PR and Communications to ensure video is an effective tool in raising the company’s profile. When opportunities arise to work with external broadcast organisations, liaise with them and ensure all visual assets and resources are optimal for the best possible outcome.

Events and Grassroots Coverage

Work to re-establish Groupon’s human face and document/publicise our hard work with charities and grassroots causes. This requires high-standard event coverage and post-production.

Video training/coaching for employees

Work with Partner Management to create high-quality videos to instruct merchants on the Groupon platform, digital tools and terminology.

Work with CS to create simple and effective video tools that will instruct customers and avoid unnecessary ticket costs, thus providing savings. X1 PM

Work with L&D and HR to document and advertise internal affairs and opportunities, such as Star of the Month and Employee Volunteering Programme. X3 PM.

Social Media Videos and Imagery

Oversee the requested creation of interesting and high-quality multimedia for Social Media channels that will define the Groupon brand in our customers’ eyes. This will include experience videos. Working with the Experience Manager, create a regulated pipeline of experience footage shot in first-person to promote our deals and Quality Assurance.

Video Branding

Work with Design Lead to establish and refine a visual branding guide for multimedia and video.

Work to define our brand voice within instructional and customer-facing videos.

Hosting Customer-facing Video

Manage external video, ensuring exposure is maximized with the use of the paid promotion, appropriate social media and PR channels.

Maintain the UK & IE Vimeo channels

Roll out best practice for these channels across EMEA.
