The Card Linked Offers (CLO) Food and Drink (F&D) team is on the cutting edge of the future of Groupon. We are actively selling and optimizing a new voucherless Groupon platform. This fast-paced sales team is dedicated to growing some of the top markets in the country while bringing a brand new Groupon product to the market.

The team’s primary responsibility will be to promote Groupon’s utility as a marketing platform in order to create partnerships with food & drink merchants who have never worked with Groupon, or food & drink merchants who have not been recently featured on Groupon’s website. The role will also be responsible for closing merchants on new Groupon product offerings in a specific markets.

The Sales Representative will conduct a thorough needs assessment to best understand the merchant’s areas for growth. Based on the specific merchant needs, the Business Development Specialist — CLO F&D will have discretion when it comes to negotiating complex deals, involving deal structure, margin, caps, and other critical contract terms.

Core Responsibilities:

Proactively seek out new business opportunities through cold calling to engage, consult, and close local deals

Develop familiarity with each merchant’s business, including but not limited to: products and/or services, consumer demographics, consumer ratings, points of competitive differentiation, merchant economic model, and revenue and profit drivers

Utilize knowledge of deal structure and strategy in order to reach Groupon’s and merchants’ desired outcomes and maximize profit

Consistently achieve and/or exceed sales targets

Interface with Merchant Development to ensure a seamless transition of accounts and align on merchant strategy

Drive market growth for both quality of merchants and revenue

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Entry level or 1+ years of proven success in a sales environment

Experience selling over the phone and cold calling various types of businesses, local merchants a plus

A balance of coachability and confidence that makes people jealous at how great of a person you are

You are adaptable and can think on your feet. When faced with new challenges, or tough conversations, failure simply isn't an option

You hold yourself accountable and balance multiple priorities like a tyrannosaurus rex on a tightrope

You have a desire to learn and develop sales skills within an ever-changing sales organization, and are always looking for ways to improve
