Strategic Business Development Manager -Travel/ Hotel Specialist

Groupon UK is looking for a Strategic Business Development Manager to focus on new business and generating leads for our Travel Platform (Getaways). Reporting into the Getaways Sales Director, you will be responsible for proactively sourcing and developing new business opportunities with Hotel merchants across the UK. Through a consultative sales approach you will present business solutions to meet the merchants, customers and Groupon’s expectations and will become a vital part of the merchants marketing and business plans.

What the role entails:

Take ownership of the full sales process.
Proactively source, pitch and close deals that feature on Groupon, continually expanding the range of offers for our subscribers.
Present Groupon as the unique opportunity for businesses to acquire new customers.
Construct and negotiate offers which meet expectations of Groupon, merchants and the customer.
Achieve and exceed on weekly and monthly KPIs
Educate merchants on how Groupon works and how they can maximise the opportunity post feature.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of your merchants business and adopts a consultative sales approach.
Hand hold merchants through the full process i.e. until Groupon voucher redeemed.
Maintaining regular contact with merchants until effectively handing them over to our Account Management team to ensure a long term and successful relationships with Groupon.
Strong knowledge of all aspects of the Groupon business model and the daily deal market.
Work with internal support functions to ensure that every deal that goes live on the platform meets quality standards.
Utilises internal tools to optimise performance
Good understanding of seasonality and when is the best time to feature merchants.
Demonstrate understanding of market trends and social media hot topics.
Actively carry out research on the travel industry and your market
What we need from you?

Proven track record of B2B New Business sales
A minimum of 5 years new business sales experience
Experience selling into the Travel and/ or hotel industry would be advantageous but not essential
Excellent communication skills, must have a consultative sales approach and be a strong persuader and influencer
Strong relationship builder, has a positive attitude and is a team player
Highly driven, is self-motivated, target orientated, resilient and tenacious
Customer focused, enjoys working autonomously, hits the ground running and demonstrates a willingness to learn
Data driven, makes well-judged decisions, good numeracy, pays strong attention to detail, is a strong problem solver, demonstrates good commercial awareness and thinks outside the box to generate new ideas
Has a flexible approach, thrives under pressure and enjoys working in a fast paced environment
Highly organised and plans and prioritizes work effectively
