The Fintech Risk team at Toast is responsible for driving risk-informed growth for the rapidly expanding Toast Fintech line of business. Whether it is enhancing our strategy and processes, sharpening our policies or identifying new products for our merchants, the risk team is an integral part of charting the path for the business. In the role of Manager, Portfolio Risk and CECL, you would be responsible for monitoring and improving the risk for the small business lending portfolio and more. This role will involve having a deep understanding of the portfolio credit risk, increasing risk visibility to management via a comprehensive and timely monitoring and reporting framework, optimizing risk and return, and driving innovation in portfolio risk management capabilities to unlock new opportunities. Understanding of credit risk management, creative and analytical thinking, and a data and results driven mindset is key to success in this role. Additionally, this role oversees the CECL reporting function including the monthly loss forecasting process and close collaboration with accounting and strategic finance on setting the loss reserve.

About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

  • Work with the leadership team to define and improve portfolio risk management strategy
  • Create comprehensive and timely reporting of the portfolio performance to ensure the risk is in line with company appetite
  • Identify risk drivers and propose mitigation solutions
  • Oversee the monthly CECL calculations and reporting to ensure the robustness of methodology and process
  • Drive actions and alignment via strong collaboration with Product Management, Operations, Engineering, Data Science, Accounting, and Strategic Finance
  • Mentor and coach a team of high performing credit risk analysts 
  • Provide leadership presence to the broader Fintech Risk team in India
  • Maintain and update policy documents and procedures

 

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • 8-10 years of experience in consumer or small business lending in a quantitative risk strategy role preferably in Fintech
  • Quantitative degree (Mathematics/Statistics/Economics/Operations Research) preferred, Masters Degree or MBA a plus
  • Experience with CECL
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to technical and non-technical audiences
  • At least 2 years of experience in managing a team
  • Fluent in SQL and Python/R
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Looker and Tableau
  • Data driven, self starter
  • Ability to navigate a cross-functional non-hierarchical environment to lead collaborations

Work Timings: 1 PM – 10 PM IST
Working Mode: Twice a week to office
