About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

  • Support the design and implementation of a formal process for the management of regulatory/compliance inquiries and exams, including intake, documentation collection, tracking, response draft/review, quality assurance, and submission.  
  • Build and cultivate positive relationships with regulators, third-party partners, and compliance managers to ensure there is clear understanding of regulatory/compliance expectations to enable Toast to exceed expectations.
  • Coordinate examinations (including onsite) by regulators for the company and support exam efforts.
  • Identify and collaborate with key business partners, compliance personnel, and subject matter experts (e.g., BSA/AML, Privacy, Information Security, etc.) to fulfill information and documentation requests, and prepare responses for regulatory/compliance inquiries and exams.  
  • Draft responses to regulatory/compliance inquiries and credibly challenge information and responses provided by key business partners, compliance personnel, and subject matter experts to ensure quality of responses prior to submission. 
  • Ensure submissions to regulators and third-party partners are provided in a timely manner, with the goal to provide responses in advance of committed timeframes. 
  • Manage third-party partner inbound due diligence/audit requests (serve as intake, collect documentation, etc.) and establish inventory of formal responses for common/frequently requested inquiries.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Legal and business partners, to ensure standardized responses are appropriate, maintained, and up to date.
  • Support the development, maintenance and communication of upcoming regulatory/compliance exams and reviews.
  • Provide consultative guidance on regulatory issues or findings remediation in collaboration with (business) issue owners, compliance, and subject matter experts.
  • Support business partners in remediation of issues or findings from supervisory exams and third-party partner reviews to ensure adherence with Risk and Compliance issue management framework. 
  • Develop reporting of regulatory issues and findings to the Risk and Compliance leadership (e.g., Chief Compliance Officer), applicable committees, and other governing bodies.
  • Manage and execute license renewals (e.g., State Money Transmitter Licenses on an annual basis).
  • Coordinate development of materials in preparation for periodic governance committee meetings through collaboration with key business partners, compliance personnel and subject-matter experts.
  • Support the design and implementation of technology and tools to automate and improve efficiency in the management of regulatory/compliance inquiries and exam management processes, where possible.

 

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least seven (5) years of experience in a risk, compliance, or audit role at a technology (FinTech preferred) company.
  • Strong familiarity with laws and regulations related to payments, payroll, credit, consumer, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex regulatory language, synthesize, and articulate in an easily digestible manner.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking, decision making, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience handling sophisticated regulatory inquiries and collaborating with senior leaders, business partners, compliance, and subject matter experts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proven track record of effective communication with regulatory agencies.
  • Leader with ability to drive action and build consensus among cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt in challenging and changing situations, comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to meet firm deadlines.
  • JD preferred.
