Job Description / Skills Required

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Principal Engineering Manager to lead our engineering teams that deliver the next generation of high-performing scalable globally available systems that provide the first-time experience for Omio users.

You’ll directly lead multiple engineering teams, plus you will be part of a cross-functional team collaborating closely with all other key stakeholders (product, design, commercial, marketing, finance, etc.). 

The team’s core is based in Berlin and is now growing globally via our unique hybrid work concept. 

What you will do:

  • Manage multiple teams of talented software engineers, and help them grow and develop further.

  • Be responsible for the entire software development lifecycle from design and implementation to monitoring and incident response.

  • Together with your product counterpart, define OKRs for your tribe and take responsibility for their delivery

  • Analyze technology and resource needs to assess the feasibility of projects and advise on future resourcing requirements

  • Be responsible for the hiring process for your team

  • Establish best practices for cross-team collaboration and software development processes. Manage stakeholders across different functions within the company

  • Continuously raise the engineering bar with experience and passion for software excellence

  • Brings experience in building and leading teams of exceptional engineers

  • Considers himself/herself a player-coach, with the ability to jump into an IDE and help get a feature shipped, in addition to helping the team to do their best work

  • Has a passion for building highly scalable solutions with flexibility factored in to make required pivots as the business evolves

  • has exceptional communication skills and a good understanding of how the programmatic marketing tech and advertising industry works, with the ability to convey intricate systems and logic to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • 10+ years of proven experience in a software engineering/development role, ideally in a related industry

  • 5+ years experience managing engineering teams
