The Toast Product Marketing team is responsible for connecting the sales, product, and marketing teams by gathering market insights to inform product development and bringing new products to market through customer segmentation, value-based messaging, sales knowledge transfer, and cross-functional marketing activation. In this unique role, you will not only be on the ground floor to unlock restaurant advocacy behind transformational B2C technology for the industry, but also partner across teams to experiment with B2B customers to market, sell and adopt emerging guest-facing products.

In this role,  you will help inform the go-to-market strategy for Guest, a dynamic, high-growth pillar within Toast that empowers restaurants to deepen the guest connection and accelerate their business. You will deeply understand the restaurant industry, the needs and pain points of restaurant owners, staff, and guests in order to help us  accelerate restaurant adoption & advocacy of our consumer marketplace solutions like the Toast TakeOut app. You will collaborate closely with product, marketing, & sales on key initiatives related to positioning and messaging, in-market experimentation, product launches, as well as qualitative and quantitative insights from customer & market research. The ideal candidate thrives on the ambiguity of early stage products and enjoys flexing their generalist skills [e.g. research, launches, messaging] across the entire customer-facing set of roles.  If you’ve got a strong bias for action, tackling complex problems and never shy away from a challenge, read on! 

About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

  • Own the GTM strategy & plans to help us accelerate restaurant adoption and advocacy to accelerate our consumer marketplace solutions like the Toast TakeOut app
  • Develop & continue to ‘up our game’ on unified product positioning, value propositions, and differentiated messaging 
  • Develop sales & marketing experiments to test hypotheses and inform GTM strategies. Using metrics and voice of customer / sales to backup your suggestions and decisions is a must. 
  • Stay close to our customers and competition: Leverage data to unearth insights into buyer and customer needs and identify market opportunities to help inform the long-term strategy for the Toast TakeOut app
  • Collaborate with Sales Enablement to drive sales productivity through product knowledge transfer, seller collateral, and value-based talk tracks.  

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • Proven experience in a fast-paced, diverse environment that can span product marketing, customer marketing, B2C marketing, product management, operational roles, finance or strategy consulting. 
  • Can autonomously lead highly cross functional projects & embraces ambiguity – while eager to ‘stretch’ & grow skillset beyond core role & responsibilities 
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills: ability to build strong, compelling story lines and recommendations –  deeply evidenced in both quant and qual research to move leadership to action. 
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with primary market research and data analysis.
  • Strong EQ – ability to empathize with our customers, their guests, and fellow Toasters in these highly uncertain times – with an eye for the ‘bigger picture’ 

Special Sauce* 

  • Previous B2B and/or B2C marketing experience preferred – especially with consumer marketplaces
  • Previous customer enablement and/or education experience is a plus. 
  • Restaurant industry experience [and / or passion for eating at restaurants] is a plus. 
  • Experience with Salesforce, SQL and/or Looker preferred, but not required
