Job Description

The Role 

Manage a team of accountants to strengthen the accounting/ finance organization, ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders/colleagues, contributes to mid/long-term strategy of the function and is responsible for the delivery against diverse goals with concrete impact on functional results.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of accountants/ analysts.
  • Managing accurate and timely recognition of issues as per the accounting standards across transactional finance.
  • Manage cash position, oversee cash flow, (banking activities and forecasting), monitor credits and collections and investments at company level.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes to meet processing objectives.
  • Ensure smooth period end close processes through direct participation and clear guidance. 
  • Communicate and knowledge-share key financial information with Finance Controllers and senior stakeholders.
  • Develop robust management reports and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring data integrity.
  • Business partner other teams to meet company focused goals, such as finance transformation strategies.
  • Ensure accounting processes are reviewed timely and aligned with best practices to maintain strong quality assurance standards.
  • Strengthen and develop workflow and process documentation including controls.
  • Support and participate in audits and ad hoc projects within the group.
  • Liaise with external service providers, auditors and tax advisors. 
  • Optimize the operational process between the departments for continuous process improvement.
  • Partner with other Finance Teams for on the implementation of HGB / IFRS accounting changes.

  • Knowledge of accounting and external reporting standards, especially HGB (German GAAP) and IFRS.
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant accounting experience preferably within a multinational company/ multi-currency environment. 
  • Start-up experience and understanding of the travel/ IT industry is desirable. 
  • Corporate risk management experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Workday ERP systems advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong Excel skills is highly desirable. 
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written), German advanced.
