The Data Infrastructure & Performance (DIP) team is responsible for building a platform that enables data-driven decisions and strategy across the organization. We aim to make data as accessible and easy to use as possible via a tech stack that includes Snowflake, Looker, Airflow, Stitch, dbt and a Customer Data Platform (CDP). 

As a Senior Product Manager of the DIP team, you will spearhead the roadmap and backlog prioritization for three scrum sub-teams (Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering and Data Visualization). Your goal is to add as much business value as possible via a combination of company priorities, stakeholder requests and internal projects. Success is predicated on understanding the business and seeing ways to streamline work between asks (feed two birds with one scone) and identifying valuable work no one is explicitly asking for.  

 

About this roll* (Responsibilities):

  • Work with the VP, Data Infrastructure  to create a well-thought-out product vision and strategy for the business platform initiatives. 
  • Serve as the product owner for three scrum teams. Effectively communicate the roadmap and prioritize the backlog. Work in close partnership with a scrum master also aligned to those teams. 
  • Understand the business needs and strategy and build a product-specific vision and strategy, including helping set OKRs for the product and outline your product’s roadmap
  • Own the internal data infrastructure as a product, where you will create product specs, review business analysis for prioritization, product performance metrics
  • Work to understand the pain of your internal stakeholders and synthesize those quantifiable opportunities into a product platform roadmap.
  • Collaborate with other internal technical teams to align on opportunities to leverage their work, and showcasing opportunities to leverage the DIP team’s work.
  • Perform market research and competitive analysis to understand best in class tools and processes for data teams.

 Do you have the right ingredients* (Requirements)?

  • Prior product experience working as a product manager or owner on an agile data team.
  • Proficient in SQL and knowledgeable about data pipelines and flows.
  • Demonstrated experience taking team strategy into account when making roadmap decisions and effectively communicating those strategic ties to more junior team members. 
  • Proven ability to make a meaningful impact on the product strategy through day-to-day product execution and your contributions to the roadmap.
  • Strength in  effectively making adjustments to direction or process to maximize impact for the customer and Toast, and owning those outcomes. 
  • Excellent ability to utilize data to anticipate and design products.
  • A proven track record of solving amorphous problems, listening to and organizing large amounts of information into a coherent plan forward, and handling difficult prioritizations.

Special Sauce: (non-essential skills, nice to have)

  • Previous experience as a data analyst, data engineer, data scientist or analytics engineer.
  • Knowledge of self-service analytics platforms.
