Senior Technical Program Manager, Spherical Software Team

GoPro is looking for an experienced, talented, and passionate candidate for the hands-on role of Senior Technical Program Manager to join our GoPro software development team in Paris, France in delivering products that help our customers capture and relive, and share their life events with their family and friends.

The person in this role will be responsible for working with local and remote software engineering teams to define, execute, and deliver advanced software components and customer-facing features across mobile and desktop platforms, with an emphasis on working with 360/spherical media. Additionally, this role will collaborate with stakeholders from other teams across international locations in Firmware, Software, Product Management, UX, Development, QA, Analytics and Marketing.


Location: This role is a flexible work-from-home position, with some required access to our office located in Issy-les-Moulineaux.

What you will do

  • Develop project plans and schedules for multiple concurrent development efforts that will deliver high quality products with high confidence in delivery dates
  • Function as the Scrum Master for software development teams on multiple projects
  • Coordinate component and feature release planning across the GoPro Software organization, including Product Management, UX, Development, QA, Analytics, Marketing, and Customer Support teams
  • Partner with team leads to ensure that handoffs between teams are never dropped, and are transferred with clear responsibilities, ownership, and delivery expectations
  • Proactively manage risk by identifying and owning all new problems, unblocking issues, tracking and resolving cross-team dependencies, and escalating as needed to mitigate issues
  • Drive effective and efficient communication between teams, both internally and with company stakeholders, using a variety of tools and channels
  • Deliver continuous, informed and transparent status updates organization-wide to ensure all stakeholders, including leadership teams, are aware of ongoing projects and their status
  • Collaborate with other Program Managers to research, advise, define, create, and successfully roll out new and updated processes to best fit our teams and business needs


Skills We’re Excited About

  • BS/BA degree with 8+ years working in program or project management, or software development, with a successful track record leading planning, execution and delivery of software
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to bootstrap complex new initiatives with minimal guidance, self-motivate and follow-through on projects
  • Experience in both high-maturity software models (as in large companies) and in evolving-process software models (as in startups) with a specific focus on leading Scrum Teams
  • Track record in building relationships, communicating business strategy, and operating in the context of the big picture
  • Expertise in partnering with users, technical teams, and senior/executive stakeholders to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives, and develop processes and tools as needed to support the organization
  • Excellent English written, verbal and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex ideas in easy-to-digest ways, bridge gaps and build understanding with both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Experience using resource/project management tools in a work environment, such as Jira, Confluence (wiki), Google Sheets/Excel, MS Project/Smartsheet, etc.

  • Leadership experience in coordinating efforts across multiple locations and timezones
  • Experience with spherical/360 media
  • Experience in delivering desktop or mobile apps
