Location: Flexible (San Mateo, CA) – This role requires proximity to an office location with flexibility to work remotely 2-3 days/week with manager approval.


GoPro is seeking a top tier candidate for the VP of Product Engineering role. The position will be responsible for the overall management of cross-functional teams including OEM Systems, Advanced Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, ODM/JDM Product Management, Commercial Operations & Global Program Management.  The position will also work with development partner organizations localized worldwide. This position will utilize technical, project management, and people management experience to actively lead strategic regional and global projects.


  • Day to day management of cross functional engineering teams across multiple geographic locations.
  • Continuous evaluation of design process policies/processes that ensure the effective achievement of key objectives.
  • Deliver products based on product roadmap, specifications and schedules.
  • Ensure focus on Advanced Engineering activities in support of future product concepts
  • This person will need to use in-depth knowledge to resolve complex issues and ensure learnings are built into future development activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other leaders at GoPro to establish strategic plans and objectives.
  • Accountable for managing teams and deliverables to assigned budgets and schedules.
  • Participate in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people within your area of responsibility.
  • Utilize technical, project management, and people management experience to actively lead strategic regional and global projects.
  • Control of planning, staffing budgeting and managing expenses.


  • Bachelor's in Engineering.
  • 15+ years of recent experience in managing engineering teams.
  • Substantial high volume consumer electronics experience a must.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • An in-depth understanding of product development from concept to implementation, including experience working across geographic and cultural boundaries with development partners and contract manufacturers.
  • Ability to drive multiple, concurrent, complex programs in a fast cross-functional environment.
  • Experience in system-level hardware development and quality management processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills by establishing clear goals, objectives and priorities that communicate the GoPro vision.
  • Works with executive management as needed to address cross function issues.

This position will report to the Chief Supply Chain Officer.
