Now a little more about what you could be doing as part of our team and contributing to Swift’s mission and vision. As a VP of Software your role will be responsible for the structure and the growth of our core embedded software engineering and developer infrastructure capabilities and the establishment of software best practices across all Swift software development teams. This position will partner closely with our product management and business teams to develop our product roadmap and software scalability into both certified and non-certified market opportunities. As a key member of the leadership team, this position will promote and drive innovation and excellence through cross-functional collaboration across hardware, embedded software, system test and engineering and cloud services groups and will lead our activities in our Australian office.


  • Provide leadership and direction for all development teams to identify knowledge management, training, and execution for all technical implementations.
  • Focus on consistent delivery of high quality software and integration points that move the company towards achieving short and long term objectives.
  • Implement and continuously iterate on the company's Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Foster an environment of innovation and execution utilizing delivery and testing best practices across the enterprise.
  • Ensure that appropriate process are developed and implemented to align with all relevant standards and certifications
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to development to ensure clear accountability for the quality of software implementations across the organization.
  • Ability to develop good estimates and scoping for work products to facilitate sound business investments
  • Identify and Plan staffing levels. Work with HR to recruit, interview, select, and hire an appropriate number of staff.
  • Provide oversight and direction to employees to align work with company strategy
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff on a daily basis, including overseeing new hire onboarding, regular feedback, disciplinary actions, career development and opportunities.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among Swift employees that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict and expeditious conflict resolution. Support a work culture that appreciates cohesiveness, supportiveness, and working effectively together.
  • Maintain transparent communication. Communicate Swift Nabigation updates through department meetings, 1:1 meetings, and other forms of communication.
  • Establish and maintain relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor function operations.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or related technology field
  • Experience in early-stage / growth companies, with a preference for automotive, robotics or positioning industry software development experience.
  • Experience in working in an environment following Agile methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the organization's management team that provides leadership and direction.
  • Excellent problem solving capabilities and judgment with a detailed but flexible approach. Ability to make sound, scalable, decisions and create clear processes.
  • Ability to align teams towards a common objective and drive buy-in to process and approaches.
  • Strong communications skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching.
  • An aptitude for building and working alongside strong teams through interview, selection, integration and resource management.

  • Strong and demonstrated commitment to operating as part of a high performing team and the ability to execute on this in practice

Desired Skills/Experience

  • 10 years of experience directly managing engineers or highly technical teams. 
  • Demonstrated applied expertise in working within safety critical applications and certifications (desired ISO26262, ASPICE, ISO9000)
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, diverse and fast-paced environment.
