Unlike traditional virtualization technologies that are hypervisor based, Robin’s technology is implemented using containers that are very efficient and do not carry the kind of overhead that traditional hypervisors do. In addition to Robin’s native LXC container support, there is support for Docker. Robin users can provision Docker containers and orchestrated traditional and Docker-based clustered applications such as Hadoop.
