Senior Software Engineer – Runtime Team

Location: Full Remote – Greater Buenos Aires (GBA), Argentina

Travel Requirements: Must have a valid US Visa for occasional travel

 

Job Details:

The runtime team at Kognitos is dedicated to enhancing the functionality of the Kognitos Brain. This crucial layer of our product is where language interpretation and action mapping occur. It’s where the platform retains its accumulated experience and learnings. When the Kognitos platform encounters unfamiliar concepts, it escalates to human experts within this layer. Engineers in this team must meet the performance requirements of both automation service level agreements and the responsiveness of interactive workflows. This role involves engaging with various aspects such as language interpretation, execution state management, workflow exception handling, and automation API integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Development: Develop and maintain our infrastructure using Python and AWS Serverless technologies.

  • Collaborative Design: Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and robust systems, including microservices and cloud-based architectures.

  • System Optimization: Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our backend systems through effective monitoring and optimization.

  • Database Management: Create and maintain database schemas and queries to support application features.

  • Code Quality: Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.

  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve our software development process by incorporating best practices and modern methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD.

  • Issue Resolution: Investigate and troubleshoot production issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.

  • Technical Contribution: Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the development of technical solutions and best practices.

  • Technology Advancement: Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in software development to recommend improvements to our technology stack.

What We're Looking For:

  • Educational Background: A B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.

  • Industry Experience: 5-8 years of industry experience in software engineering.

  • Programming Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Python.

  • Development Practices: Experience with modern software development practices and methodologies, including Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD.

  • System Expertise: Experience with large-scale distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-based architectures.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of software design patterns, algorithms, data structures, and database technologies.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: A natural problem solver with the ability to identify issues and lead the development of effective solutions.
