Now a little more about what you could be doing as part of our team and contributing to Swift’s mission and vision. As a NOC Engineer you have the responsibility as a Global NOC Team member to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that affect the availability and quality of the Swift Skylark Platform. This is an integral part of Swift’s Service Operations organization that owns the observability, manageability and reliability required to provide Swift’s Skylark Precise Positioning Service with crucial GNSS satellite observations to customers and partners globally.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure the uninterrupted operation of Swift services across the entire stack – CORS network, AWS & Kubernetes, and Skylark Platform by proactively monitoring, identifying, and working to quickly resolve issues.
- Spring into action and facilitate Swift customer-impacting incidents and outages. Coordinating and communicating with impacted stakeholders and partners, escalating where appropriate to ensure quick service restoration
- Work closely with our Engineering teams helping to build, maintain and extend the Swift Platform services. Contributing to new and ongoing technology projects; Performance, High Availability and Scalability
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues across the entire stack – CORS network, AWS & Kubernetes environment and Swift's Skylark Platform
- Document incidents, root causes, and resolutions for service incidents.
- Occasional travel for on-site installation or repair of Swift’s GNSS stations
- Must be available to work a flexible shift schedule, which may include coverage on weekends or holidays as required to support 24/7 operations
Required Skills/Abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication to interact effectively with technical teams, management, and external partners.
- Strong sense of ownership, drive and an obsessive attention to detail
- Proven ability to work independently
- Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.
- Incident management in a large scale, high uptime environment and ability to diagnose and resolve complex system and network issues quickly and effectively.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-based networking solutions.
- Experience working in virtualized environments
- Demonstrated scripting ability. Familiarity with Bash, JSON, Python, Terraform and other scripting tools is strongly recommended.
- Ability to create and maintain documentation for functional areas of responsibility including playbooks for other staff members of the NOC team.
- Must be able read, write and speak fluent English
Desired Skills/Experience
- General knowledge of GNSS technology, production services, network infrastructure, and CORS operations
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and other monitoring tools and technologies.
- Strong understanding of ITIL principles and best practices, especially in Incident, Problem, and Change management.
- Infrastructure as Code skills, ideally with Terraform and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in Python, Golang, or equivalent languages
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- 5-7 years experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Japanese is a plus
