Ryan S. earned his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, graduating cum laude in History with a secondary in Economics. At Harvard, he captained the men’s rugby team and earned All-American, All-Ivy, and Scholastic All-American honors. He later completed his Master’s at the University of Cambridge, where his research on the commercialization of quantum-secure communications and the geopolitics of quantum technologies earned him runner-up for the 2025 Mackinder Prize for Geopolitical Risk Analysis.
A dual citizen of the United States and the Philippines, Ryan was the first Cambridge student from the Philippines to compete in the 153-year Varsity Match against Oxford, while also helping lead Cambridge to the largest comeback in the rivalry’s history.
Ryan is currently a resident athlete with the USA Men’s National Rugby Sevens Team at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego, training toward representing Team USA at the LA 2028 Olympic Games. Off the field, he serves as a Business Operations Analyst at Skydweller Aero, a company developing autonomous, solar-powered aircraft. His previous experience spans energy private equity at Bluewater, space policy at the White House, and development finance in fragile and conflict-affected regions with the Asian Development Bank.
He is passionate about business, energy, and geopolitics, with a focus on emerging technologies and frontier markets.
