We are looking for a passionate Engineering Director

Managing 30 plus engineers, offices in Berlin, London, Prague – may be open to remote workers! 

You will lead and supervise one of our core Tribes with 5 teams, managing a diverse portfolio of responsibilities with multiple business scopes, multiple stakeholders and complex dependencies. You will work with creative colleagues and develop a fantastic team. 

What you will do:

  • Manage a tribe (set of teams) of 30 talented software developers, to help grow and develop them further.

  • You will be responsible for the full development lifecycle of the software from testing to monitoring and incident response

  • Together with your product counterpart you will agree on the OKRs for your tribe and take responsibility for the delivery

  • You will analyse technology and resource needs to assess the feasibility of projects, and advise on future resourcing needs

  • You will be responsible for the hiring process for your team

  • You establish best practices for cross-team collaboration and software development processes

  • You will continuously raise the engineering bar with experience and passion for software excellence

  • You extend your view to business challenges

  • You create clarity when there is ambiguity and you foresee problems and see challenges that more junior people don’t

  • You define what needs to be done and drive it from idea to completion

  • You are responsible and accountable for all areas of Engineering in their team(s), for quality of service delivery as well as headcount, workforce planning, cost control and profitability planning

  • You represent Omio in technical conversations with external partners

  • You are the evangelists and coaches for their teams (and managers)

  • You support your manager & senior leaders to grow, build and train best in class teams

Our technology stack is diverse and ever-changing. You will help your team to navigate it and come up with the best options for your team. Examples of the technologies we currently use and you’ll be working with include (but are by no means limited to): 

  • Typescript with React for our web applications

  • React-Native for our Android and iOS apps

  • GraphQL

  • Java, Go, and Node.js for backend services 

  • Kubernetes, Docker


  • 5 years plus of experience in leading agile teams as tech-lead and/or people manager

  • Track record of successfully shipped software products

  • Good understanding of software engineering practices, passion for agile
