Innovation and invention is not a predictable process. Throughout history, we have seen long periods of developmental plateaus, punctuated by chaotic, exciting periods of progress, innovation, and world-changing inventions. There’s a great example in our current decade, with the explosion of new transportation technology – from mass-market electric cars to semi-autonomous vehicles – driven largely by rising fuel prices, environmental concerns, and the global political climate.
